Frequently Asked Questions

We will assess your property to determine if solar is a good fit or not for you. If solar is a good fit, we will look at your power bill to determine how much energy you consume. With thorough analysis of your bill and property, we will determine how many panels you need. Depending on your energy consumption and the size of your roof, you may offset a portion of your power bill rather than the entire thing; this is very common as more and more appliances become electric.

The typical solar set-up is a grid-tied system; you are still connected to the electric grid. In the event you need more power than your array provides, the grid will provide the additional necessary power.

If the grid is down, your solar will shut off during a power outage. This is a safety feature to protect those working to restore the grid. The exception to this is a battery back-up system.

It depends on how often and how long you lose power. There are circumstances for some individuals that would make battery backup important. For example, if you have a home medical system that cannot safely lose power or if you’re on a well pump that loses power for long periods of time. If you don’t have battery backup may not be necessary for your setup. Our sales team will work with you to create a system that meets your needs.

In most cases the work of installing a solar system will take about a week, when accounting for weather. The design, permitting, inspection, and utility interconnection process takes longer. Most of our projects are completed and up and running within 6 to 8 weeks of contract signing, with the caveat that we are dependent on third parties, like the power company or the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) and their schedule.

Give us a call. We’ll schedule a time to come take off your panels and store them on your property while the roof is replaced. We’ll reinstall the solar system once the roof is finished. Cost varies with system size and equipment.

You will be given access to a portal where you can see how much energy your system is producing.

For residential cash investments, the payback period is 8-10 years. For commercial systems, the payback period is significantly shorter.
