NEWS & UPDATES
SunDay Solar is Celebrating its 15th year in business!
March 2025
Now that the rush of year-end 2024 is over, I would like to thank you, our “Greening” partners, for your continued support. I would also like to share some of the year’s highlights and achievements.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
At the core of our mission, is the desire to improve the community in which we live. This year, working with Charlottesville LEAP, Community Housing Partners, and Habitat for Humanity, SunDay installed over 100 solar systems on affordable housing properties throughout the Commonwealth. All at no cost to the owners. This effort has brought the cost saving benefits of solar to those who can least afford its investment. Communities that have had no example, no talking point, and no reference on which to build their understanding of solar power, now do. We are particularly proud of the achievement as it highlights the flexibility, skills, and heart of our team to rise to the occasion.
SunDay Solar not only helped those in affordable housing, but also continued our Annual Giving program through which our employees decide where their share of our giving goes. This year our team chose to support CASA of the Piedmont, Big Brothers and Sisters, Feeding Greene, C3, Hoof and Paws, Boys and Girls Club, SARA, and The Haven in our largest contribution to date. If you have a particular local organization you support, please let me know. I am always looking to help.
LARGEST INSTALL DONE TO DATE:
This past year, SunDay Solar installed our largest commercial solar system for Virginia Panel Corporation in Waynesboro. At 357kW, the system is expected to produce over 50% of the energy used across their entire campus. Waynesboro is truly on the rise. Virginia Panel joins our long list of commercial partners who are using their money to improve both their bottom line and community.
Some of our other commercial partners are Blue Ridge Graphics, SL Williamson Pavers, MS Events, UVA Data Science Building, Richard Bland College, Advanced Concrete, Cedar Park Storage, the Charlottesville Wellness Center, St. Mark Lutheran Church and St. Philip Lutheran Church, just to name a few. Please support these businesses in any way you can.
This year plans are already in place to install significant solar systems at Albemarle Cider Works, Riverside Grocery in Churchville, Thistlerock Meadery, the Cheese Shop, and Albemarle Paving Company. If you know of a business, a house of worship, non profit, or a school that hopes to install solar, please pass on our name. SunDay Solar is an expert at leveraging all the incentives available to make the investment in solar an even brighter one.
2024 – THE YEAR OF BATTERY BACKUP IMPLEMENTATION:
In the home, SunDay Solar was busy implementing the latest technologies to supply our existing and new customers with Energy Storage Systems. Whether it is the headline stories of devastating natural disasters or the significant decline in cost, battery adoption has never been so popular. SunDay Solar is busy bringing a new level of secure power to the home. I like to say solar is great, and batteries are great, but the combination is better than the sum of their parts. Together they effortlessly keep the most important comforts of the 20th century alive when the utility grid lets you down.
ADDING TO THE TEAM:
I am pleased to announce the addition of our first COO, Michael Blinn. Michael rose to the top of a considerable list of qualified candidates who were eager to join SunDay Solar in this very important role. Michael is local, and has distinguished himself as a capable leader and communicator with a desire and ability to improve the performance of the teams he leads. With extensive experience as the COO and CFO of a local non-profit, and elsewhere, Michael joins us to improve our ability to serve you, our team, our community, and install MORE SOLAR! We welcome Michael and all the good we can do together.
AND GOING FORWARD:
We at SunDay Solar are optimistic about the future and our ability to navigate the ups and downs of the industry, economy, and political environment to continue our effort to build a cleaner, healthier community. We look forward to continuing to provide you with the best solar systems and after-installation service in the Commonwealth. Please feel free to reach out should you have any questions or concerns, if you have friends considering solar, or just to say hi. We are very pleased to be working together. We are excited to be your clean energy community partner. Together, we can better the world around us.
Yours Truly,
Richard Crisler
CEO
